Partial results show Danilo Medina cruising ahead in Dominican Republic's election

  • In the partial results released on Sunday, Danilo Medina, the President of Dominican Republic, has appeared to have easily won the re-election held in the country. According to media reports, the results that were counted by hand from 18 percent of the polling stations showed that Medina’s coalition had won 62 percent of the vote. If the margin is sustained it would be enough to avoid a runoff election.
