Parliamentary elections in Israel begin; Benjamin Netanyahu faces tough challenge
March 17 , 2015
Parliamentary elections began in Israel amidst expectation that the incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party will face a tough challenge from the centre-left Zionist Union, which has promised to improve relations with Palestine. Netanyahu has said in case he wins the elections he will not allow a Palestinian state to be created. According to media reports, neither of the two parties will get more than a quarter of the votes. However, the opinion polls published some time back suggested that the Zionist Union will win most seats. According to the Israeli media, Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party is trailing the Zionist Union by four seats.
