First round of Egypt's parliamentary elections ends, low voter turnout

Oct 20, 2015 - The first round of Egypt’s parliamentary elections ended on Monday. According to media reports, there is growing disillusionment since the army took over control in 2013, as for the second consecutive day the voter turnout was low. Sherif Ismail, Prime Minister, said the turnout on Sunday was just 15 to 16 percent. However, judges overseeing the ballot said that by Monday the voter turnout the risen to 20 percent.
