Paris climate summit: Final draft reached, say organizers

  • Organizers of the Paris climate talks have reached a “final” draft text after two weeks of negotiations, reports say.

An official of the French foreign ministry said the draft would now be presented to ministers.

However, this may not be the final deal as objections could be raised at the ministerial meeting.

Reports say that significant progress has been made on several issues, but the draft is less ambitious in setting long-term goals to cut down emissions.

There have been disagreements between the US, China and India over how much should rich and developing countries individually contribute to the global emission goals.
