Papua New Guinea police opens fire on students
June 8 , 2016
Several students were injured when police in Papua New Guinea opened fire on students. The students were protesting against Prime Minister Peter O'Neill. Opposition MPs said that four students were killed in the firing; however, this has not been independently confirmed. According to media reports, students were marching from Port Moresby towards parliament demanding the Prime Minister to answer corruption allegations. O'Neill is facing a possible no confidence motion. He denies any wrongdoings and said that he will not step down.
