Panama Papers scandal: Prime Minister of Iceland resigns

  • Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson, the prime minister of Iceland, has resigned from his post following the Panama papers scandal. According to media reports, the leaked documents showed that Gunnlaugsson owned an offshore company along with his wife. However, he did not declare it when he entered the parliament. Gunnlaugsson has been accused of hiding millions of dollars worth of family assets. Meanwhile, Gunnlaugsson has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that he had sold his shares to his wife.
