Palestinian President says US Threat of Closing Down PLO Office in DC will be Dangerous for Peace

  • President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas has responded to the US threat of not recertifying PLO’s (Palestine Liberation Organization) office in Washington (if Palestine doesn’t enter into direct peace negotiations with Israel) by saying that he is “deeply surprised” and it will have “dangerous consequences” in the path of peace. He also called the US threat as an “unprecedented step” in the relation between Palestine and the United States. US State Department has reportedly said that the decision of non-certification was issued after Palestine President Abbas, in U.N. General Assembly, called for investigation of Israeli aggression at International Criminal Court.
