Pakistani vessel attack was carried out by 'al Qaeda's South Asia branch'
September 19 , 2014
Pakistani officials have said that the newly formed South Asian wing of the al Qaeda infiltrated the country’s navy and attempted to hijack a ship earlier in September with the aim of launching rockets on US ships.
The naval officers involved in the hijacking attempt have been compared to Nadal Hasan, the psychiatrist in the American army convicted in the Fort Hood killings of 2009.
Three attackers were killed by security forces, with Pakistan’s defense minister Khawaja Asif admitting to the possibility of “inside help” in the attack.
