Pakistani troops raid political party MQM's headquarters in Karachi

  • Pakistani troops have raided the headquarters of the MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) in Karachi.

Following the early morning raid, the headquarters of the city’s biggest political party were also sealed.

An official of Pakistan Rangers said sophisticated weapons had been recovered and several people allegedly involved in criminal cases were arrested in the raid.

The MQM has called for a countrywide strike in protest. Slamming the raid, MQM leader Farooq Sattar was quoted as saying that the party had “zero tolerance” against criminal activities.
