Pakistani teenage activist travels to UK to receive treatment
October 15 , 2012
The 14-year-old Pakistani girl who was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen last week has been flown to the UK for medical treatment.
Until now, Malala Yousafzai was being treated at a military hospital in Rawalpindi.
The Taliban said they had shot her because she had "promoted secularism", adding that they would target her again.
Yousafzai gained prominence due to her desire to attend school, which turned into a one-girl campaign after the Taliban captured Swat valley in 2009 and shut down girls' schools.
