Outrage Follows as Russia Vetoes Resolution on Syria at UN
April 13 , 2017
Russia vetoed a draft resolution presented at the United Nations by France, UK and the US condemning last week’s chemical attack on a Syrian rebel base. This was the eighth time that Russia had protected its ally at the UN.
The chemical attack which was suspected to be orchestrated by Syrian government had left 80 people dead.
Following the attack, US President Donald Trump ordered a missile strike on a Syrian air force base escalating the tension. China abstained from the vote along with Ethiopia and Kazakhstan while Bolivia joined Russia and voted against the resolution.
