Our war is against terrorism not Islam, says French prime minister

  • Prime Minister of France Manuel Valls has said that the country is waging a war against terrorism and extremism, but not against Muslims.

Speaking to the French National Assembly, he said the three gunmen who killed 17 people had tried but failed to kill the “spirit of France”.

The prime minister was speaking after the funeral ceremonies for seven victims of the Paris terror attacks.

Meanwhile, the new edition of Charlie Hebdo magazine, one of the main targets of last week’s attacks, is featuring a cartoon on its cover depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
