Open files on Argentinean military regime, Pope Francis orders Vatican
April 30 , 2015
The Vatican has started the work of declassifying its archive on the Argentinean military dictatorship following an order from Pope Francis.
This could possibly help the kin of thousands of people who disappeared during the dictatorship between 1976 and 1983 get information about their loved ones.
The Vatican had collected lot of information linked to these cases, most of it through the Buenos Aires papal nuncio office.
During the military regime, the Pope, who was born in Buenos Aires, headed the Jesuit order in the country.
