One killed in Kenya blast

  • At least one person has died and several wounded after a blast in a Somali district of the Kenyan capital Nairobi on Friday.

The man killed was the person carrying the explosives, according to a Kenyan police spokesman.

The explosion took place in the Eastleigh suburb, near Kenya's air force headquarters.

Earlier reports had suggested the blast could have been a suicide attack.

Nairobi and the port city of Mombasa have been at the center of a spate of grenade attacks since Kenya sent troops into Somalia last October to combat the Islamist group al-Shabab.
