Ohio kidnapper offered a plea deal
July 26 , 2013
The prosecution has reportedly offered a plea deal to the man who allegedly held three women hostages for a decade in Cleveland. The attorneys haven't clarified the nature of the deal and the prosecution's office hasn't commented either.
Castro has pleaded not guilty to all the charges that include kidnapping and rape. He had kidnapped three women separately between 2002 and 2004. Amanda Berry, Gina Dejesus and Michelle Knight were 14, 16 and 20 years of age at the time. He has also been accused of restraining and chaining the women. Castro had assaulted one of the women with a vacuum cord around her neck when she tried to escape.
If no plea deal is made, Castro's trial is scheduled for Aug. 5. The date could be delayed if more time for preparation is requested by the defense.
