Obama's credit card declined at New York restaurant

  • Barack Obama had his credit card declined at a restaurant in New York last month, the US president has revealed.

The incident occurred when the president and first lady Michelle dined at Estela during the UN General Assembly session in September.

Michelle’s credit card saved the day, Obama told workers at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, drawing out laughter. He said his card was declined probably because he does not use it too often.

“Luckily, Michelle had hers,” he said. “I was trying to explain to the waitress that I’ve really been paying my bills.”
