Obama seeks new partnerships with Africa
August 7 , 2014
Describing the three-day summit with African heads in the US as an "extraordinary event,” President Barack Obama said Africa “will always have a strong partner in the United States of America,” according to media reports.
The last day of talks touched upon cooperation in areas such as corruption and security.
American firms have pledged to invest $37bn in Africa during the course of the summit.
Obama suggested that America was moving away from an African policy dominated by humanitarian aid to one of economic partnership.
