Obama meets with shooting victims' families in Colorada

  • U.S. President Barack Obama has paid a visit to Colorado to honor victims of Friday's gun attack at a Batman film screening that left 12 people dead.

The White House said Obama also met with survivors and families of victims in Aurora.

In his weekly radio address, he called for prayer and reflection on the Denver suburb attack, which injured 58 people.

James Holmes, 24, is currently being held in solitary confinement. He is alleged to have opened fire during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

Holmes is accused of at least 12 counts of first-degree murder.

Obama's visit came a day after police cleared his apartment of explosives that could have killed people entering through the door.

Authorities have established no terrorism link, nor a motive. Holmes had no criminal record apart from a speeding fine.
