Obama calls for joint action to halt 'cancer' of ISIS
August 22 , 2014
A day after Isis released a video showing the beheading of American photojournalist James Foley, US president Barack Obama urged for a coordinated response against the militant group, describing the Islamist fighters as a “cancer.”
Obama said Foley’s life stood in “stark contrast to his killers,” adding that most victims of the ISIS were, in fact, Muslims.
Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States would “never back down in the face of such evil.”
Britain’s prime minister David Cameron has admitted that the masked man who executed the journalist was possibly a UK national.
