North Korean General Kim Yong-chol Blocked Briefly by Protesters from Entering South Korea

  • 72-year-old North Korean Gen Kim Yong-chol (who was on his way to meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in and also attend closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang) was briefly blocked entry by South Korean conservative MPs and family members of some sailors who accuse him of killing 46 South Korean seamen. Gen Kim Yong-chol is former military intelligence chief and is accused by South Korea for carrying out attacks on the Cheonan warship and Yeonpyeong Island back in 2010. The veteran general has led a delegation of 8 members to attend Sunday’s closing ceremony of Winter Olympics.
