North Korea warns of 'all-out war' as tensions in peninsula escalate
August 22 , 2015
In a sign of increasing tensions in the peninsula, North Korea has warned that it is prepared to risk an “all-out war”, with Kim Jong-un ordering his frontline troops to be combat ready.
The move follows an ultimatum to South Korea to stop propaganda broadcasts in the border area.
Military tensions have escalated after an exchange of artillery fire that has been described as “rare” by observers. South Korea’s army is on maximum alert.
North Korea’s foreign ministry said the situation had reached "the verge of war” as Seoul has refused to stop the propaganda broadcasts.
