UN Security Council slams rocket launch by North Korea

North Korea has made headlines yet again by launching a satellite into space on Sunday. According to a state media report, the launch was successful. However, the move has been condemned by other countries, prompting the U.N. Security Council to arrange for an emergency meeting. Despite North Korea claiming the launch as a bid undertaken to explore scientific developments, it is being looked upon by other nations as a front to test ballistic missile.
North Korea rocket launch: UN Security Council to hold meeting
The United Nations Security Council will be holding an emergency meeting regarding the launch of a long-range rocket by North Korea. According to media reports, US, Japan and South Korea had requested to hold the meeting with a view to agree on a collective response to the launch. North Korea said the rocket was fired to place a satellite in orbit; however, critics believe that Pyongyang’s real purpose was test a ballistic missile.
