Nine killed, dozens injured as storms batter Europe
April 1 , 2015
Deadly storms have swept across parts of Europe killing at least nine people.
In Germany, seven people died and dozens were injured. Many of those injured were struck by parts of trees uprooted by the storm. Germany, Switzerland and Austria are among the worst-affected countries.
Winds with speeds exceeding 118 mph were recorded on the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany.
Railways services were hit too, and people had to be evacuated from a key station in Munich.
