  • Nigerians should limit the number of children they are having, the country's leader has said.

President Goodluck Jonathan stated people were having too many children, urging them to use birth control measures.

The United Nations has estimated the population of Nigeria could rise from 160 million to 400 million by 2050.

Jonathan added that legislation and policies aimed at controlling the number of births might be considered in the future for Africa’s most populous nation.
