Nigerian army has freed 97 women and girls, including one of the 200 girls abducted from Chibok secondary school in Borno state. Boko Haram has abducted thousands of women and girls from the North-eastern region of Nigeria. However, the Chibok incident gained international attention including that of the US first lady Michelle Obama and Pakistani women rights activist Malala Yousafzai. The rescued girls told that six of the abducted girls have died and the rest were still in the Sambisa forest. The military is trying to regain maximum public support which was lost due to its inability to bring back the abducted girls.
