February 22 , 2015
Nigeria’s army has recaptured Baga town, which was being held by Boko Haram militants since early January.
In a Twitter message, the army said it was conducting “mopping up” operations from the northeastern town.
In another statement, it said several Boko Haram fighters had been killed in the fighting. Air strikes were used in the operation by the Nigerian military.
The militants are believed to have massacred hundreds of people when they seized the town on January 3.
