Nigeria: Twin blasts rip through Gombe market, 50 killed
July 17 , 2015
Around 50 people have been killed in two blasts in northeastern Nigeria’s Gombe city. The explosions occurred at a crowded market. The first one took place outside a footwear shop. Minutes later another blast ripped through the area. Dozens of people have been injured in the blasts. Most of the victims are believed to be shoppers making last-minute purchases for the Eid festival.
While no group has claimed responsibility for the blasts, the Boko Haram militant group is known to target crowded places.
