Nigeria is now Ebola-free, says WHO

  • Nigeria is now officially free of Ebola as the country has seen no new cases in six weeks, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The WHO described it as a “spectacular success story.”

The disease has so far killed over 4,500 people, most of them in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, all west African countries.

Earlier, Senegal was also declared as Ebola-free.

Meanwhile, foreign ministers of European nations are meeting to discuss ways to bolster the EU’s response to the health crisis, media reports say.
