Nigeria Heads Towards State Election to Elect New Governors
March 9 , 2019
The oil-rich Nigeria is heading towards a state and local representative election, just 2-weeks after the February 2019’s Presidential election. Out of the 36 states in Nigeria, 29 states are going to polls for electing their state governors. The 7 states that will not hold governor election include Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Bayelsa, and Kogi. As the governors of these seven states haven’t completed their 4-year terms yet, the state elections will not be held now. During last state election in 2015, 44% turnout was recorded. This time the turnout is expected to be below that but more than the February 2019’s Presidential election.
