Neymar guides Brazil to First Olympic Football Gold, Mo Farah clinches “Double Double”
Brazil won their first ever Olympic gold medal for men’s football by defeating Germany in the final as the Brazil superstar Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior scored the winning goal in the penalty shootout. During normal playing time, Brazil and Germany were tied at 1-1. However, the hosts took sweet revenge on the indomitable Germans, after the humiliating 7-1 World Cup defeat, by winning the shoot-out by 5-4. After joining the home fans at the packed Maracana stadium to celebrate the excellent win, Neymar stepped down as Brazil’s football captain. In another scintillating win, Britain’s Mo Farah clocked 13:03.30 to win 5000m race final, becoming the second person in history to win Gold at 5,000m and 10,000m races at two Olympic Games.
