July 2 , 2014
A Pakistani couple was reportedly "punished" for marrying against the family wishes and their throats were slit in a village. Media reports indicate that the parents and grandfather of the bride have been put behind the bars.
"The couple was not beheaded, but was killed with knives and had severe signs of torture on their heads," a police chief said. Villagers mentioned that the bride's father even let children watch the killing, so they do not go against the wishes of their family.
This issue of honor killing in the region has gained a substantial amount of media attention recently.
