New trains in France don't fit on platforms
May 22 , 2014
The good news is that there are going to be 2,000 new trains in France. However, it appears that they are too broad and unable to fit in several platforms in the nation.
"We discovered the problem a bit late, we recognize that and we accept responsibility on that score," Christophe Piednoe, the communication director of RFF said.
Moreover, the cost of repair would be more than $110M, as per media reports. The problem arose since the rail operator submitted 30-year-old dimensions and many old stations are narrower.
