Navy rescues child off coast of Mexico

  • A family who was on a disabled sailboat several hundred miles away from the Mexican coast, was rescued by American sailers after their one-year-old baby fell sick.

The baby along with her family was taken aboard the USS Vandegrift today and reports suggest that the girl is now in a stable condition. Lyra stopped responding to medications after developing a rash almost all over her body. The 129th Rescue Wing mentioned that the team stabilized her and took the sailboat to Mexico.

Charlotte Kaufman's sister said they're "not new at sailing" but "sickness sometimes happens."
