Nato jets intercept Russian plane
October 23 , 2014
Nato has said it intercepted a Russian spy plane flying over the Baltic Sea as tensions continue to increase in the region.
According to the Estonian military, the Ilyushin-20 plane entered the country’s airspace, prompting Estonia to summon Russia’s ambassador.
However, Russia says the aircraft did not violate Estonia’s airspace and was on a training flight.
Nato said the plane took off from Kaliningrad in Russia’s Baltic coast and was initially intercepted by Danish jets before it flew north.
