Myanmar ferry capsizes; about 50 feared dead

A boat with 209 people on board capsized in northwestern Myanmar due to bad weather. According to government officials, about 50 people have drowned. However, the locals claimed that more people had died. The overcrowded vessel encountered inclement weather during its journey from the Taunggok to Sittwe - the capital of Rakhine state. As per the latest report from the Ministry of Transport, 167 people were rescued. While 20 bodies have been recovered, the rescuers have not been able to trace others.
