Myanmar: Around 50 soldiers killed during clashes with rebels

Around 50 soldiers have been killed in fighting between troops and rebels in Myanmar’s Shan state, reports say.
Government forces used air strikes to target Kokang rebels, according to the state media. The fighting in the state, which is close to the China border, has been going on for a week.
Thousands of civilians have fled the area, with some crossing over to China’s Yunnan province.
More than a dozen clashes have been reported between the two sides in the past few days.
