January 21 , 2015
Lassana Bathily, the 24-year-old Muslim employee who saved lives by hiding people from an Islamist gunman at the kosher supermarket in Paris, has been granted French citizenship, according to media reports.
The Malian born Bathily was in the stockroom when Amedy Coulibaly charged into the store and killed four people.
During a ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, in which senior French political leaders were present, Bathily said it was a proud moment for him. He said he “would do the same again.”
