Muhsin al-Fadhli, leader of al-Qaeda offshoot, killed in US air strike

  • Muhsin al-Fadhli, the leader of al-Qaeda offshoot Khorasan Group, has been killed in a US air strike in Syria, reports say. According to a Pentagon spokesperson, he was targeted near Sarmada on July 8 while moving in a vehicle.

Al-Fadhli, who was originally from Kuwait, is believed to be among the few al-Qaeda leaders who knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance. The US military had earlier targeted the Khorasan Group in September.
