Most Americans approve of Pope
December 25 , 2013
American Catholics strongly believe in the new pope and about 88 percent of them approve of Pope Francis' job.
According to CNN, nearly three out of four Americans have a positive opinion on the pontiff, which makes him the nation's highest-regarded religious figure.
"I like the new pope," senior pastor of Houston's Lakewood Church Joel Osteen said. He mentioned that the Catholic church, which Francis has been building is "more inclusive."
Francis met with his predecessor Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and the two men dressed in white and prayed in a chapel before their private meeting. Francis wished Benedict a Merry Christmas and asked him to pray for him. "Always, always, always," Benedict replied.
