November 21 , 2014
Protesters clashed with the police in Kenya’s Mombasa city over the closing of a mosque, leading to at least one death, according to media reports.
Five people have died in violence in the past few days.
Swafaa mosque is one of three mosques that have been shut owing to what authorities say are extremist links. A raid by the police on Swafaa mosque unearthed weapons, including a grenade and petrol bomb, reports said.
The raid was part of a wider crackdown on groups with suspected links to Somali militants.
