Morsi seeks to resolve parliament row
July 12 , 2012
Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has stated he wants to hold talks with other institutions to resolve a constitutional crisis over his attempts to reinstate parliament.
Morsi sparked a row with judges and the military over the weekend after he issued a decree reinstating the lower house of parliament.
The chamber was dominated by Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood party and was dissolbed by the military before he took power.
The Supreme Constitutional Court had initially ruled some of the seats were unconstitutional as election rules had been breached.
The row escalated on Sunday when Morsi ordered parliament to reconvene, a decree that was later overruled by the court.
