More US, EU sanctions against Russia
July 17 , 2014
The United States and EU have expanded their sanctions against Russia for its alleged support to rebels fighting against Ukraine security forces.
America has targeted key Russian banks and defense and energy companies. While the EU said it would spell out its sanctions in detail by July-end, it added that Russian projects would no longer be funded by investment banks in the EU.
Russia’s president Vladimir Putin said sanctions had a “boomerang effect” and will push relations between the US and Russia to a “dead end.”
