More than 16,000 Ebola infections in west Africa: WHO
November 30 , 2014
The number of people in west Africa infected with Ebola has crossed 16,000, and nearly 7,000 people have died from the deadly disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.
The number of fatalities has shown a sharp increase from the figure given by the WHO days ago, but this is being attributed to unreported deaths in the past months, most of them in Liberia.
The UN health agency has warned that the actual number of deaths and infections could be significantly higher as cases are known to be unreported.
