UK’s Jewish community was feeling fearful because of antisemitism, British home secretary Theresa May has said.
She called for far greater efforts by the government to defeat prejudice against Jews, while speaking at an event on Sunday in memory of the Jewish victims of the terror attack at the kosher supermarket in Paris. She said the France attacks were a “chilling reminder of antisemitism.”
May said there would be increased police patrolling in prominent Jewish localities and promised to introduce more steps to tackle hate crime.
