Montenegro: Police fire tear gas at anti-Djukanovic protesters

  • Police fired tear gas to disperse thousands of protesters in Montenegro who were demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic.

    Demonstrators shouted slogans and said they wanted a transitional government to organize fair elections. 

    Some protesters threw flares at police officers near parliament. About 15 policemen were injured and 24 demonstrators were treated after being teargassed, according to the interior ministry.

    Djukanovic has been in power for the major part of the past two decades.
