Moderate earthquake in Wellington

  • A 5.3-magnitude earthquake was felt in the capital city of New Zealand but no damage has been reported. Witnesses mentioned a aftershocks, swaying of tower blocks as well as the alarms going off after the quake. 

    Carole Burke, an accountant said that this has been the strongest earthquake she has felt, as reported by Fox News. "It felt really rocky and it went on for a long time," she said. "I was on my knees holding onto a table." This country that experiences up to 15,000 tremors a year saw the death of a 185 people in February of 2011 as a result of a 6.3-magnitude quake.
