Mitt Romney campaign raises $17 million more than Barack Obama

  • US Republican candidate Mitt Romney raised nearly $17 million than President Barack Obama's re-election efforts in May.

Romney and his party raised $76.8 million while the Obama camp raked in $60 million.

Romney now has $107 million in funds, close to the $115 million that Obama and his Democratic party had by the end of April.

Both presidential candidates are currently embroiled in a frantic period of fund-raising ahead of November's election.
