Missing Mexico students: DNA tests fail to match human remains
January 21 , 2015
Forensic tests conducted in Austria have failed to match the remains with DNA samples in the probe into the missing Mexican students.
According to Mexican prosecutors, Austrian scientists could not find enough DNA in the remains purportedly belonging to the 43 students who were last seen on September 26 in southwestern Mexico’s Iguala city.
The Austrian laboratory has offered to conduct more sophisticated tests on the samples, according to media reports.
In a case that has outraged Mexico, the students are believed to have been killed by a gang with links to the local government.
