Millions of people participate in International Yoga Day worldwide

  • Millions of people across the world took part in the first International Yoga Day.

    In India, the country where yoga originated, prime minister Narendra Modi joined thousands of yoga enthusiasts in capital Delhi and performed yoga exercises.

    Similar events were held across the world in places like New York, Paris, Beijing, Bangkok and dozens of other cities.

    Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general, welcomed participants across the world on the occasion.

    Modi said that the day marked a “new era of peace and harmony.”
