Microsoft reveals Pre-Touch Sensing technology for smartphones
May 7 , 2016
Microsoft Research has unveiled ‘Pre-Touch’ technology for sensing mobile interaction in a video. With this technology, users can interact with the display of touch screen phones. The ‘Pre-Touch’ technology works by simply hovering fingers over the screen. It can intelligently differentiate between similar gestures like swiping or selecting. Sensors detect the position of the user’s hands and whether the phone is held by one hand or with both the hands. A ‘hybrid touch + hover gesture’ was also revealed in the video to show how these gestures can bring up several interface options like volume variation, live tiles, swiping through web pages, and playing games. This technology might compete with apple’s 3D Touch Interface.
